Week of August 12th
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
Psalms 103:1-5 NASB
Are you forgetting what you need to remember? The busyness of life and situations that arise can cause us to overlook and at times forget the goodness and faithfulness of God.
However, it is critical for your sanity and for your productivity to make sure that in both the good times and the challenging times to pause for a moment of reflection and to consider the fact that God has consistently brought you through. The writer says to bless the Lord and forget not His benefits....
Forgetting the benefits of being a child of God will leave you feeling stuck and alone. However, when you remember who you are whose you are, you’ll remember the benefits that are automatic because of who God is. He is our savior, He is our healer, He is our redeemer, it is Him who brings joy, satisfaction, and peace to your life.
We each have the option to choose to focus on what we can control and on the opportunities that are before us. Otherwise, we will find ourselves stuck, flustered, and frustrated about what we cannot control.
Lord, this is the day that you have made, I will find a reason to rejoice and bless your name no matter what. Give us a strong memory for what we need to remember, we need to remember your goodness and your graciousness. Lead us on this journey to BECOME whom you intend for us to be.
In Jesus name, Amen.
